Julian had his personal Springfield M1-A standard 1 lug receiver going strong for 20 years and I can think of many. My M1-A Springfield rear lug receiver, krieger bbl and 'with love' assembly is now in a M21 configuration, at about 12,000 rounds young, the metal of the receiver does not show any fatigue signs, and, with the DCM 1960's surplus ART scope the groups still hold 3" at 200 yards many other Springfield made receivers in the hands of the now over the hill crowd that are still in great shape and working order after 20,000 rounds I paid the 75.00 for the rear lug, picked up a krieger barrel in s/steel and turned it all over to Julian Alfonso of the NYS guard, all around helpful guy and at the time, the man in charge of the NYSRP Camp Smith The stock is a 12 GI fiberglass stock I got from Numrich years ago and almost.

The XM21 receiver has no provisions for rear sights. The M21 DMR receiver is different from the XM21 receiver in the fact that it has a bolt-on top rail and it still facilitates a functioning set of rear sights. Springfield kept a sales and work shop at the nationals, I took it over there for their review, they offered me a on the spot no charge standard receiver that they had there or a rear lug receiver at a 75.00 charge they would send to me, they also offered to do the receiver swap work at their shop then and there or take it back to the factory for the rear lug receiver to bbl. The gas cylinder is the forged type that Bula sells. My Springfield M-1A, standard model cica 1994 : at about 5000 rounds, the bolt roller lug rounded out the front of the bolt carrier receiver slot and the bbl./throat wear started to open up groups to 4" at 300 yds. However I've been perfectly happy with my standard M1A. If I were going to build the best M14 ever and had tons of money, I'd go forged. Forged is theoretically stronger, but I've never heard of a cast receiver failing. M-16 AR style were still considered Micky Mouse guns by the over 45 group but coming fast into their evolution as 600 yard guns IIRC Bula makes forged receivers whereas Springfield casts their receivers. Brian Sheetz looks at a left-hand friendly M14 rifle from Bula Defense Systems. My vote would be to go with the Springfield brandĬamp Perry 1995, 50 percent of the service rifles were civilian Springfield brand M1-A's, 25 % AMU supplied M-14's as made by Springfield, Winchester, TRW and the small assortment of Poly-Tech or such knock offs, Bula Defense Systems is an American manufacturer and custom builder of. Drawn from this proud history, Bula Defense has created the most honest version of a civilian M14 ever produced. Reading the above it seems things might have changed with Springfield M1 A rifles and the way folks now feel about Springfield as a companyīased on my past good luck and being around both the Springfield and local LRB brand. Forged components, MIL-SPEC finishes and precision machining are used to re-create the last true battle rifle.
